Ramzan Kis Tarha Guzarain by Mufti Taqi Usmani

Ramzan Kis Tarha Guzarain by Mufti Taqi Usmani is a spiritually uplifting book that guides Muslims on how to spend the blessed month of Ramadan in the most beneficial way. The book explains that a believer should pray for a long life not merely for worldly gain, but to perform righteous deeds and follow the straight path. One of the greatest blessings is to live long enough to witness and benefit from the sacred month of Ramadan. Only those who understand the true value of this holy month sincerely pray to experience it again.

Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani, a respected Islamic scholar, explains that Ramadan is not just about abstaining from food and drink. It is a complete training program for spiritual growth, self-discipline, and strengthening one’s relationship with Allah. The book provides practical advice on worship, time management, sincerity, and self-accountability during Ramadan.

Two Types of Worship

The author clearly explains that worship in Islam can be divided into two categories. The first type includes direct acts of worship such as Salah (five daily prayers), fasting, Zakat, and Hajj. These acts are obligatory and clearly defined in Islamic teachings. The second type includes everyday actions performed with sincere intention, such as earning halal income, serving parents, or helping others. When done for the sake of Allah, these ordinary actions also become acts of worship.

Understanding this distinction helps believers balance their lives. Direct worship forms the foundation of faith, while indirect worship beautifies daily life with sincerity and purpose.

Direct Worship is Obligatory

Mufti Taqi Usmani emphasizes that direct acts of worship cannot be replaced by good intentions alone. The Qur’an clearly states the obligation of performing Salah at its prescribed times (Surah An-Nisa 4:103). Therefore, fasting, prayer, and other core duties must be fulfilled properly during Ramadan. Indirect good deeds complement but do not substitute obligatory worship.

This book encourages readers to approach Ramadan with preparation, humility, and consistency. By organizing time for prayer, Qur’an recitation, charity, and self-reflection, believers can transform Ramadan into a life-changing experience.
