An Important Guide to Understanding Major Sins in Islam
Kabeera Gunnah Kia Hain? Urdu Translation & Abridgment is an Islamic book based on Al-Kaba’ir by Imam Al-Dhahabi and the work of Sheikh Muhammad bin Sulaiman Al-Tamimi. This Urdu translation and summarized edition by Muhammad Anwar Muhammad Qasim explains the concept of major sins in a clear and accessible manner for readers who wish to understand Islamic teachings about accountability and repentance.

Minor sins (Sagheera Gunnah) are those smaller wrongdoings that may be forgiven by Allah through sincere worship and good deeds such as prayer, fasting, charity, and other acts of righteousness. The Quran states that if believers avoid major sins, Allah will remove their lesser faults and grant them entry into a place of honor.
Major sins (Kabeera Gunnah), however, are serious violations that require sincere repentance for forgiveness. The book outlines the essential conditions of repentance. If the sin is between a person and Allah, three conditions must be fulfilled: 1) The person must immediately stop committing the sin. 2) They must feel genuine remorse for their actions. 3) They must firmly resolve never to return to that sin again.
If the sin involves the rights of another human being, a fourth condition is added: the wronged person’s rights must be restored or forgiveness must be sought from them. Without fulfilling this condition, repentance remains incomplete.
Kabeera Gunnah Kia Hain? Urdu Translation & Abridgment serves as a practical reminder of moral responsibility, encouraging readers to reflect on their actions and seek sincere repentance. The book presents classical Islamic scholarship in simple Urdu, making it suitable for students, scholars, and general readers alike.
