A Loneliest Commander – Episode 4 | Strategic Preparations in Syria
In Episode 3, we witnessed the fragile unity inside Kufa. While Imam Hasan (A.S) assumed leadership, internal divisions and conditional loyalties weakened the strength of his position. Now the focus shifts back to Syria, where Muawiya carefully monitors every development.
Hearing that the people of Kufa — including supporters of Imam Ali (A.S) and even the Khawarij — had pledged allegiance to Imam Hasan (A.S), Muawiya began strengthening his political and military position. Reports suggested that preparations were underway in Iraq and that a possible confrontation with Syria could soon take place.
To reinforce his strategy, Muawiya summoned Amr bin Al-As from Egypt back to Syria. This decision signaled the seriousness of the situation. The gathering of experienced political figures indicated that Syria was preparing not just for defense, but for calculated political maneuvering.
Episode 4 reveals the growing tension between Kufa and Syria. Political alliances were forming, strategies were being drafted, and the atmosphere of confrontation was becoming unavoidable. The loneliness of leadership for Imam Hasan (A.S) deepens as both internal and external pressures increase.
