Why Study Philosophy? An Urdu Introduction by Dr Temur Rehman. It is Greek word made with two words Philo and Sophia. It means the Love with Knowledge. So the philosophers love the knowledge. Dr Temur added, the philosophers are the giants of education and wisdom at their times. Once Isaac Newton said if I have seen farther it is by standing on the shoulders of giants. It means if we understand the point of view of such philosophers then we can also see farther than them.

It is very interesting to know more about them as many of them were;
- Kings
- Slaves
- Politicians
- Revolutionaries
- Doctors
- Lawyers
- Teachers
The majority of the philosophers were the gents. Most of them belonged to

- Chinese Philosophy
- Indian Philosophy
- Westren Philosophy (Rome, Greek, Christian, Islamic and Modren Philosophy included)
