A Loneliest Commander – Episode 19 (Final) | The Martyrdom and Aftermath
In Episode 18, the alleged plot involving poison had reached its final stage while political efforts to secure succession were intensifying. Now the tragic conclusion of this chapter unfolds.
Historical narrations state that Imam Hassan (a.s.) was poisoned and became severely ill. During his final days, he reportedly informed Imam Hussein (a.s.) about the poisoning.
When supporters intended to bury Imam Hassan (a.s.) near the resting place of the Prophet (peace be upon him), opposition arose. Marwan bin Hakam, then governor of Madina, objected. It is also reported in historical sources that Ayesha (r.a.) did not permit burial at that location.
Tension escalated and the possibility of confrontation became real. However, the advice of Imam Hassan (a.s.) was remembered — that no bloodshed should occur because of him. In order to prevent violence, it was ultimately decided to bury him in Jannat al-Baqi graveyard.
Reports mention that Jada was later moved to Syria. Some narrations describe that she did not receive the promised reward and instead faced isolation and disgrace.
With the martyrdom of Imam Hassan (a.s.), leadership passed to Imam Hussein (a.s.), marking the beginning of a new and even more consequential chapter in Islamic history.
