The fact is that the number of months ordained by Allah has been twelve since the time He created the heavens and the earth. Sura Tauba reveals to us that the numbers of months are 12. It is also important here to mention that in each language the word for months uses, derivated from the word moon. We can place an example as: Month (Moon), ماہ، شہر، مہینہ. It is also cleared in the Koran, the complete year is counted by the months of Moon. There is no normal difference between days, nights, months and years. But it is normal to see the size of the moon is different at the end or start of a month.

It is sayings of Muhammad PBUH, O Muslims, always initiate your month when you see the new moon. Always end your month by seeing the moon, if there is any doubt then you will have to finish the 30 days. (Month = Ramzan)

“They ask you about the new moons. Say: These are signs to mark fixed periods of time for mankind and for the pilgrimage . . .” (Sura Baqra 189). This verse also proves that all the rites of Islamic Laws i.e Hajj, Zakat, Eid, etc. belong to the moon months. These rites should be performed by the fixed dates of the moon.
