Zechariah had no children and his preaching also were against Rabbis of temple, in fact his preaching was well and was in accordance with Holy Book, but Rabbis changed the meanings of words and now they were following Satan. They were doing businesses and also were supervising the market working on the base of usury. But Zechariah was opposing such acts of Rabbis.

Rabbis and their companions also criticized Zechariah due to no children, they said if You are a Prophet then why you do not graced with any kid by Allah. They laughed at him if there would be no kid who would be the successor of Zechariah. Then a time comes when Zechariah had to go into the room (Dome of the Rock), there he prayed to Allah and Lord listened his cry, Lord replied through angel that soon he would be granted by a Child whose name would be John (Yahya a.s). He will confirm the presence of Messiah among them.
