Mehdi Fakhimzadeh was born in Tehran into a middle-class family. His mother was educated and fluent in French, while his father worked as a bank clerk. Despite belonging to a traditional family that did not support acting as a profession, he pursued his passion with determination.

Initially, he studied medicine but later left it due to a lack of interest. He joined the army for national service and later returned to university to study French language and literature. During this period, he also trained in fine arts and developed a strong interest in acting and directing.

His acting career began seriously with the 1973 film Topoli. Over time, he expanded his career into directing and writing. His films Proposal (1989) and Spouse (2000) achieved notable success. He also created major historical series like The Loneliest Commander and Velayat Eshgh.

Fakhimzadeh has received multiple awards, including recognition at the Fajr Film Festival for screenplay writing and acting. His contributions span acting, directing, and writing across numerous films and television series.
