Scholarly Endorsements and Structured Guidance on Sajda e Tilawat
Masail Sajda e Tilawat is a carefully compiled Urdu booklet that presents detailed jurisprudential rulings regarding Sajda e Tilawat (the prostration required upon reciting specific verses of the Holy Qur’an). This work was prepared by Maulana Muhammad Asadullah Umar Naumani, a graduate of Jamia Khair-ul-Madaris Multan and a student of advanced Islamic jurisprudence (Takhassus fil Fiqh) at Jamia Haqqania, Sahiwal, District Sargodha.

He states that he personally listened to the entire manuscript and appreciated the systematic collection of rulings derived from reliable classical books of Fiqh. He praised its clear arrangement, simple language, and practical benefit for both scholars and general readers.
The compiler mentions that he undertook this task upon scholarly encouragement to gather scattered rulings related to Sajda e Tilawat from authentic fatwa collections and jurisprudential sources. Despite interruptions due to academic commitments, he resumed the work and successfully compiled nearly one hundred issues, making the booklet a concise yet comprehensive guide.
Masail Sajda e Tilawat is divided into five structured chapters for ease of understanding:
- Chapter 1: Number of verses of prostration, conditions of Sajda, and its legal ruling.
- Chapter 2: Issues related specifically to the reciter of the verse of Sajda.
- Chapter 3: Issues related specifically to the listener who hears the verse.
- Chapter 4: Combined rulings affecting both reciter and listener.
- Chapter 5: Rulings concerning Sajda during prayer—whether Fard, Nafl, or Taraweeh—and whether one is Imam, follower, or praying alone.
The author concludes with heartfelt supplications, seeking acceptance of this effort and praying that it becomes a source of ongoing reward (Sadaqah Jariyah) for his teachers and elders. The tone of the work reflects humility and devotion to scholarly tradition. “علم کی خدمت ہی اصل سعادت ہے” — service to sacred knowledge is true success.
This booklet serves as a reliable and accessible reference for Muslims who wish to perform Sajda e Tilawat correctly and avoid common mistakes in recitation and prayer.
