A Loneliest Commander – Episode 13 | After the Peace Treaty
In the previous episodes, we witnessed the weakening of Imam Hasan’s (A.S) army, internal betrayals, political intrigue, and the growing pressure that led toward negotiation. The struggle was no longer sustainable under such fractured conditions.
History records that after the peace agreement between Imam Hasan (A.S) and Muawiya, Imam Hasan (A.S) left Kufa and migrated to Madina. This marked the end of open political confrontation and the beginning of a new phase.
Administrative changes quickly followed. Marwan was appointed as governor of Madina. Mughira took charge of Kufa. The affairs of Syria were placed under the responsibility of Zohak ibn Qais. With opposition neutralized, Muawiya consolidated control over the political structure.
Freed from immediate military pressure, Muawiya focused on strengthening alliances. During his journey for Hajj in Mecca, he met leaders of Arab tribes to reinforce the foundations of his rule and secure broader support for his authority.
Meanwhile, signs of a new direction began to emerge within his household. His son Yazid increasingly displayed conduct that raised concern among observers, revealing a shift in tone that would later shape future events.
Episode 13 highlights the transition from battlefield conflict to political consolidation, setting the stage for the developments that would profoundly impact Islamic history.
