A Classical Discussion on Milad Gatherings and the Practice of Qiyam

Milad wa Qayam is an Urdu book written by Maulana Naqi Ali Khan. The work discusses the religious basis of commemorating the birth of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) and the practice of standing (Qiyam) during gatherings of remembrance. In Milad wa Qayam, the author presents traditional arguments and scholarly references to explain the permissibility and significance of these practices within Islamic scholarship.

The available edition of the book includes both the main text and explanatory notes. However, it is important to mention that in the copy currently accessible, some portions of the text and marginal notes are not fully readable. A few pages are also missing, and certain passages at the end appear incomplete. Where the text was unclear, editorial notes have been added for clarification.

The publication prepared by Dar Ahl al-Sunnah includes several notable features. These include modern typesetting, careful attention to textual accuracy, detailed referencing of Qur’anic verses and Hadith, and proper citation of classical sources. The edition also contains organized indexes of topics, verses, Hadith references, and source materials. Punctuation and formatting have been arranged to improve readability, and long passages have been structured for easier understanding.

It is also clarified in the marginal notes that when the term “A‘la Hazrat” appears in certain contexts, it refers not to Imam Ahmad Raza Khan, but to his respected father, Maulana Taqi Ali Khan. Such distinctions are noted to maintain historical accuracy and scholarly clarity.

Milad wa Qayam serves as a classical treatise addressing the subject of Milad gatherings and Qiyam, offering readers a detailed scholarly perspective rooted in traditional Islamic literature.
