The story of Hazrat Miqdad (R.A), a true follower of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), reflects unwavering faith, courage, and devotion to Islam. Just hearing a saying of the Prophet (PBUH) about him is enough to understand his elevated status. It is said that love for Miqdad (R.A) is a part of faith, highlighting his exceptional rank among the companions.
Hazrat Miqdad ibn Amr (R.A), also known as Miqdad ibn al-Aswad, was one of the most respected companions of the Prophet (PBUH). The reason behind his two names traces back to an early agreement during his life in Makkah. His personal life also carries an important lesson—he was married to the cousin of the Prophet (PBUH), which clearly shows that in Islam, faith and piety are valued more than lineage or status.
He accepted Islam during its earliest and most difficult phase, becoming one of the first few individuals to openly declare their faith despite severe opposition. At a time when even mentioning Islam could put lives at risk, his courage stood out. Due to increasing persecution in Makkah, he migrated twice—first to Abyssinia and later to Madinah—demonstrating his strong commitment to his belief.
Hazrat Miqdad (R.A) was not only firm in faith but also brave in action. He was among the first Muslim horse riders and actively participated in every major battle alongside the Prophet (PBUH). His horse, famously known as “Sabha,” symbolized his speed and strength in warfare.
During the Battle of Uhud, when chaos spread and many lost their positions, Hazrat Miqdad (R.A) remained steadfast. In a moment of great danger, he stood among the few who formed a protective shield around the Prophet (PBUH), risking his life without hesitation. His loyalty and bravery during such critical times truly define his legacy.
The life of Hazrat Miqdad (R.A) teaches us the true meaning of faith, sacrifice, and steadfastness. His journey from early struggles to becoming one of the most honored companions is a powerful reminder that true success lies in unwavering ایمان and sincere devotion.
