Caravan of Karbala, in other words the Caravan of Pride or Caravan of Martyrdom departed from Meccah on 8th day of Islamic month
Hajj. Imam Hussein a.s and Abu Al Fazal Abbas were leading the caravan. Before leaving Mecca, Imam Hussein already sent two emissaries towards Kufa and
Basra i.e Salman towards Basra and Muslim Bin Aqeel towards Kuf. Whereas Kufa was the city where Imam Ali a.s was martyred. Meanwhile Muslim bin Aqeel was arrested and was martyred by police of Kufa controlled by Abdullah bin Ziyad. From Mecca to Kufa 1850 KM distance was covered in 24 days. It is reported there were 24 ladies , 29 men and boys who were minors, were 22, 10 minor girls, 10 slaves and 9 maids were along with caravan.
