He was faithful companion of Prophet pbuh. The following serial is about his life when he opposed the people who were cursing Ali r.a.

It is also reported by History writers that Abdullah Son of Ziyad was not real brother of Muawiya. Many said that Abdullah bin Ziyad was the illegitimate child of Sofyian father of Muawiya. So after the event of death of Ali, Muawiya announced that Abdullah son Ziyad is his brother like real brother and same father name i.e. Sofiyan was given to Abdullah. So it was the many reason that many Islamic scholars started to call him with his mother name Somiya.
