The compiler, Asif Naeem Siddiqui, clarifies that this introductory work does not claim original research. Instead, it draws upon respected scholarly sources such as Tarikh-e-Adabiyat-e-Iran by Zabihullah Safa, selected editions of Shahnameh by Muhammad Ali Foroughi, She’r al-Ajam by Allama Shibli Nomani, and writings of Hafiz Mahmood Shirani. The aim has been to summarize key discussions about Firdausi and his masterpiece in a concise yet meaningful manner, helping readers understand essential background before studying the epic.

The prose retelling of certain Shahnameh stories was undertaken at the suggestion of Shamsur Rahman Faruqi, who also provided guidance during its preparation. As a gesture of gratitude, the book has been dedicated to him. While preparing these narratives, the author consulted a published edition of Shahnameh-e-Firdausi to ensure authenticity and consistency.

Firdausi, whose full name was Abul Qasim Mansur bin Hasan, composed the monumental epic Shahnameh to preserve the ancient history, legends, and heroic traditions of Iran. Through vivid storytelling and poetic brilliance, he immortalized kings, warriors, and moral struggles that continue to inspire readers centuries later.

This edition serves as a valuable bridge for Urdu readers who wish to appreciate the cultural and literary significance of Shahnameh through carefully adapted prose narratives.
