A Pictorial Compilation on the Life and Legacy of Mujaddid Alf Thani

Noorun Ala Noor is an Urdu compilation connected with the life, teachings, and spiritual legacy of Shaykh Ahmad Sirhindi, widely known as Mujaddid Alf Thani. Born in 1573 in Sirhind Sharif (Eastern Punjab, India) and passing away in the same city, he left a lasting imprint on Islamic thought and spiritual reform. His influence through the Naqshbandi Mujaddidi order continues to be recognized across the Muslim world.

This publication emerged from the broader scholarly project titled Jahan Imam Rabbani Mujaddid Alf Thani, an encyclopedic effort initiated by Javed Iqbal Manzari, founder of Imam Rabbani Foundation, Karachi. The project aimed to document the life, works, intellectual contributions, and reformative achievements of Mujaddid Alf Thani through research-based articles and visual material.

Noorun Ala Noor primarily presents a carefully arranged collection of rare photographs and visual records related to sacred sites, historical buildings, and tombs associated with Shaykh Ahmad Sirhindi, his family, disciples, and the Naqshbandi spiritual chain. To make these materials more accessible to general readers, the photographs were compiled separately into organized sections rather than embedding them within academic volumes.

The collection is divided into five thematic albums: sacred sites mentioned in Maktubat Imam Rabbani; Naqshbandi elders including Khwaja Bahauddin Naqshband and Khwaja Baqi Billah; materials related directly to Mujaddid Alf Thani and his close associates; Mughal-era rulers such as Akbar, Jahangir, Shah Jahan, and Aurangzeb; and finally, descendants and later scholars of the Mujaddidi order.

This work stands as both a historical archive and a tribute to a major reformer whose teachings emphasized spiritual purification, adherence to Sunnah, and revival of Islamic principles. It serves researchers, students of Sufism, and readers interested in Islamic intellectual history.
