In Islam, ‘Aqeedah’ (belief) forms the foundation of the religion. If one’s beliefs become unstable or doubtful, the very structure of the faith becomes weak. The importance of correct belief is emphasized repeatedly in the Quran and Sunnah, and even minor errors in belief can sometimes take a person outside the fold of Islam.
Islamic beliefs are divided into two types:
Definitive (Qat’i) beliefs, proven by absolute evidence, which every Muslim must accept sincerely. Denying any of these beliefs takes a person out of Islam.
Speculative (Zanni) beliefs, supported by strong but not absolute evidence, which every follower of Ahl al-Sunnah wa’l-Jama’ah must accept. Denying these beliefs excludes one from this group.
Followers of Ahl al-Sunnah wa’l-Jama’ah are those whose faith, practices, and principles are based on the authentic Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ and the teachings of the Companions (RA). Those who deviate from this path are considered innovators (Mubtadi’een).
This book serves as an essential guide to understanding authentic Islamic beliefs and maintaining one’s faith in accordance with the teachings of the Prophet ﷺ and the Ahl al-Sunnah wa’l-Jama’ah.
