Al-Farooq is a historic literary work whose creation spanned years, driven by public demand, perseverance, and devotion to Farooq-e-Azam (RA).
A historic manuscript shaped by patience, public demand, and unwavering resolve
Al-Farooq created a powerful stir across India even before it came into existence. Its name first appeared quietly, mentioned incidentally in the preface of Al-Mamoon (first edition). After that brief reference, the author maintained complete silence regarding the work. Yet the title carried such fascination that it spread naturally, word by word, across the country.
So strong was the anticipation that even before the initial parts were prepared, the name Al-Farooq was on the lips of people from one end of the land to the other. However, circumstances arose that interrupted the continuity of the project, and other literary commitments took its place. During this period, several other works flowed from the author’s pen and were published.
Still, for those who awaited the majestic splendor of Farooq-e-Azam (رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ), no other work could truly fill the void. Unfortunately, certain personal reasons led to a loss of motivation toward Al-Farooq, and the author nearly abandoned the project altogether. Yet the persistent calls and expectations of the nation continued to echo, compelling him to repeatedly set down and then take up the pen again.
Finally, on 8 August 1894, a firm and decisive resolution was made to resume the work in a steady and continuous manner. Although professional duties and unforeseen obstacles frequently intervened—sometimes causing interruptions of several months—the work was never entirely halted. Gradually, progress continued.
At last, after four complete years, this long and demanding journey reached its destination, allowing the traveler of the pen a moment of rest for both body and soul.
